In chinese, there are two characters that are pronounced "mehn," but have very different meanings. The first (top), which is only written with the right hand side of the character, means door. With the addition of the left side of the character (bottom), which is the part used to make a character apply to people, the meaning becomes the one described earlier (which pluralizes pronouns). I felt the addition of this human element was particularly important and wanted to incorporate it into the design of the project.
